Winners Weber and Ruppert celebrate their success in spear-throwing and hurdles race
At the German Selection Sprints, several notable performances were recorded across various events.
In the 3000m steeplechase, German athlete Lea Meyer finished a commendable eighth place with a time of 9:26.08 minutes. Notably, Gesa Krause acted as a pacesetter in the race before dropping out as planned. The event was won by Jimmy Gressier in a swift 7:36.78 minutes. Kenyan athlete Edmund Serem finished second with a time of 8:09.96 minutes, just behind Ruppert who clinched the first place in 8:09.02 minutes. Moroccan athlete Salaheddine Ben Yazide finished third with a time of 8:14.10 minutes.
In the 1500m run, Niels Laros secured the victory with a time of 3:29.20 minutes. Robert Farken finished ninth with a time of 3:31.30 minutes. The event was organized by the German Athletics Federation, with the final scheduled to take place in Berlin.
Henrik Janssen had a strong showing in the discus throw, finishing sixth with a best throw of 66.37 meters. Mykolas Alekna won the event with a throw of 68.89 meters. Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra came second in the javelin throw trial event with a throw of 85.01 meters.
Javelin thrower Julian Weber improved his world-leading and personal best to 91.51 meters at a trial event in Switzerland.
Long jumpers Malaika Mihambo and Italian athlete Larissa Iapichino put on a close competition at the Letzigrund Stadium. Mihambo narrowly missed victory with a jump of 6.92 meters, while Iapichino secured the win with a jump of 6.93 meters.
Ruppert, who aims for the minimum goal of competing in the final at the Tokyo Olympics, expressed confidence in his form. He improved the German record in the 3000m steeplechase to 8:01.49 minutes in Rabat three months ago and won the 3000m steeplechase at the trial event with a time of 8:09.02 minutes. Mohamed Abdilaahi set a personal best in the 3000m with a time of 7:37.31 minutes.
